Terms of service
Effective date: July 4, 2026.
Welcome to Homieo. These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Conscious Living Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (clclife.org) that owns and operates Homieo at homieo.org (the “Service”). Proceeds from the Service support the Collective's charitable mission.
By creating an account or using Homieo, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We've kept the language as plain as we can — but every section here counts.
Questions any time: hello@homieo.org.
1. What Homieo is — and isn't
Homieo is a community platform where people share their personal experiences with natural remedies — reviews, ratings, photos, recipes, and discussion. The remedy finder and “endorsement” marks reflect aggregated community reviews from people who said they tried something. They are not measures of medical effectiveness, and Homieo makes no claims about any remedy.
We don't verify the accuracy of community content, and nothing on Homieo is a recommendation by us.
2. Health and safety notice — please read carefully
HOMIEO DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL ADVICE. Content on the Service — including reviews, ratings, endorsement marks, remedies, recipes, ingredient information, how-to guides, and anything else — is community experience and general information only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for the advice of a physician or other qualified health provider. Using Homieo does not create a doctor-patient or any professional relationship.
Always seek the advice of a qualified professional with any questions about a medical condition, and before starting, stopping, or changing any treatment or medication. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on Homieo.
If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or emergency services immediately. Do not rely on Homieo in an emergency.
Natural does not mean safe. Herbs and other remedies can cause side effects, allergic reactions, and interactions with medications, and may be unsafe in pregnancy, for children, or with certain conditions. What helped one member may be ineffective — or harmful — for you.
FDA notice. Statements on Homieo about remedies, ingredients, or supplements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Pets: Homieo does not provide veterinary advice. Pet-mode content is community experience only. Species-safety warnings are informational and may be incomplete. Always consult a licensed veterinarian before giving any remedy to an animal — many substances that are gentle for people are toxic to pets.
Assumption of risk. Any decision to use, prepare, or apply anything you learn about on Homieo — for yourself, another person, or an animal — is your own, made at your own risk.
3. Who can use Homieo
You must be 18 or older. By using the Service you confirm you are at least 18 and able to enter this agreement.
Accounts. Homieo uses real names, not usernames — this is deliberate and builds accountability. Register with your own name, keep your credentials secure, and don't share your account. Each person may hold one account. You're responsible for activity on your account. A short member code appears next to your name across the Service to help prevent impersonation.
If your account is banned, you may not create another. We use technical signals to detect ban evasion (see the Privacy Policy), and new accounts created to evade a ban inherit the ban.
4. Your content
What you post. “Your content” means anything you submit — reviews, comments, ratings, remedies, recipes, ingredients, photos, and profile material.
Your license to us. You keep ownership of your content. So we can run the Service, you grant Conscious Living Collective a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for display and formatting), publish, and display your content in connection with operating, improving, and promoting Homieo. This license ends when your content is deleted, except that we may retain copies as needed for moderation records, security, legal compliance, and backups, and content you shared publicly may have been seen or reshared by others.
Your promises about your content. You represent that:
- it's yours to post and doesn't infringe anyone's rights;
- reviews and “tried it” markers reflect your genuine, first-hand experience;
- photos show only you, your own pet, or subjects you have permission to post — never another identifiable person without their consent, and never a minor;
- it complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
We may moderate. We (and community moderators who earn that role) may hide, remove, restrict, or decline any content, and may suspend or ban accounts, at our discretion — particularly to protect member safety or the integrity of reviews. Moderation actions are logged and generally reversible on review. We are a platform for community content and have no obligation to monitor it, though we may.
5. What you may not do
Don't:
- claim or imply that any remedy treats, cures, or prevents any disease or condition, or present content as medical or veterinary advice;
- give dosing instructions or condition-specific treatment protocols to others;
- post content that is false or misleading (including fake or paid reviews, or reviews of things you haven't tried marked “tried it”), or manipulate ratings, votes, trust scores, or reports;
- impersonate any person, misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or use another's name;
- harass, threaten, or abuse others, or post hateful or unlawful content;
- post anyone's private information, or photos of others without consent;
- post content involving minors, or use the Service if you're under 18;
- upload malware, spam, or advertising; scrape, harvest, or bulk-download content or member data; or use content from the Service to train AI or machine-learning systems without our written permission;
- circumvent security, access controls, rate limits, moderation, or a suspension or ban;
- use the Service for anything unlawful.
Violations can result in content removal, trust-score consequences, suspension, or a permanent ban, at our discretion.
6. Community roles, ratings, and reports
Members build trust scoresthrough community votes on their contributions. Trust affects abilities on the Service (like reporting weight and, at higher levels, community-moderation tools). We may adjust trust mechanics, and any member's standing, to protect the Service's integrity. Reports are reviewed; misuse of reporting (including coordinated or bad-faith reporting) is itself a violation.
7. Affiliate links
Some ingredient pages contain clearly marked affiliate links (currently Amazon Associates). As an Amazon Associate, Conscious Living Collective earns from qualifying purchases.Commissions support the nonprofit's mission and never affect how remedies are ranked or endorsed — endorsement comes only from community tried-it reviews. Purchases you make on third-party sites are between you and them, under their terms.
8. Third-party sites and services
Homieo links to third-party sites (like retailers) and may reference third-party tools. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, products, or practices.
9. Homieo's property
The Homieo name, logo, design, software, and all Service content other than member content belong to Conscious Living Collective or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service as intended by these Terms. Don't copy, modify, or create derivative works from the Service except as allowed by law.
10. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on Homieo infringes your copyright, send a notice containing: (1) your contact information; (2) identification of the copyrighted work; (3) the URL or location of the allegedly infringing material; (4) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you're authorized to act; and (6) your physical or electronic signature.
Send notices to: hello@homieo.org, subject “DMCA Notice” [and to our designated agent registered with the U.S. Copyright Office: 421 Broadway Unit 551, San Diego, CA 92101]. We may remove reported content and terminate repeat infringers. If your content was removed by mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk for the community, or as needed to protect the Service — with or without notice depending on severity. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 2, 4's retained-records provision, and 12–15) survive termination.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WITHOUT LIMITING SECTION 2, CONSCIOUS LIVING COLLECTIVE DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR SAFETY OF ANY COMMUNITY CONTENT, REMEDY, OR INFORMATION ON THE SERVICE.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CONSCIOUS LIVING COLLECTIVE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FOR PERSONAL INJURY, ILLNESS, OR HARM TO ANY PERSON OR ANIMAL ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON CONTENT OR USE OF ANY REMEDY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE — WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU; IN THAT CASE, LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Conscious Living Collective and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: your content; your use of the Service; your violation of these Terms; your violation of anyone's rights; or harm to any person or animal arising from remedies you posted about, prepared, provided, or used.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at hello@homieo.org and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally.
Binding individual arbitration. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by AAA under its consumer arbitration rules then in effect, rather than in court. The arbitration will take place in Henry County, Georgia, or by video/telephone at your election, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
Class-action waiver.You and Homieo agree that claims may be brought only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any representative or class proceeding. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration provision above will be void, and the dispute will proceed in court under the “Court fallback” paragraph below.
Opt-out. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing hello@homieo.org within 30 days of first accepting these Terms; opting out will not affect any other part of these Terms.
Court fallback. For any dispute not subject to arbitration — including if the arbitration provision is found void, or for either party to seek injunctive relief — the dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Henry County, Georgia, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll update the date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
17. Miscellaneous
If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor of the nonprofit's operations. “Including” means “including without limitation.”
